Who we are

“ In the Latin culture the Tabarel was the place where farmers kept their most precious tools and belongings, we keep culinary secrets there…”

In 1978, Max and Patricia Rungger decided to expand their passion for gastronomy and opened a small restaurant in the middle of the Dolomites. After restoring the ancient family house, an intimate and welcoming little restaurant with only eight tables emerged in the centre of San Vigilio di Marebbe.

Due to the increasing number of requests and clients coming from various parts of the world they decided to remodel in 1995. In this year, a large veranda was added and they turned the basement into a beautiful wine bar which today houses more than 1500 wine labels. The dining rooms were updated to complement the elegant and refined style of their food and provide the highest level of comfort to their clients.

Thanks to the passion and experience of Max and Patricia and of the collaboration of their four daughters, the restaurant has been a pool of culinary success and a meeting point for food and wine lovers from the very beginning.

The last restoration project dates back to 2011 when additions were added to the family house and decorated with wood and stone to match the rustic atmosphere of the village.
